AFRO LATIN BODY MOVEMENT 

Body movement training is one of the most central practices for any salsa/afro latin dancer, from beginners to professionals and essential for increasing your level in both partnerwork and solo dancing. Suitable for all levels. Most of the movements are a resource in a wide variety of dances. In this class you can really work on sensing the movements. Exercises improve technique, coordination, range of motion, body awareness, reduce tension, increase flow of energy, movement vocabulary and promote body connectivity. This is a continuous practice: for beginners it is more about learning the movements, for experienced it is about adding layers, nuances, sensations, quality, and also about maintenance (use it or lose it!)

BALANCE & STABILITY TRAINING
Sundays: 16:00–17:00
A progressive flow of exercises focusing on balance, stability, and proprioception, using blocks.
One of the most effective ways to feel more confident, grounded, and free in your dancing.
The level of intensity can be adjusted at any time to suit your needs.
BARRE
Mondays: 19:30–20:30 (+ stretch)
A ballet technique–based class featuring a flowing sequence of barre exercises.
Focus areas include strength, body awareness, alignment, lines, coordination—skills that directly enhance your dancing.

DANCERS FEET FOOT TRAINING

Flow of exercises to increase strength, mobility and articulation of the feet. Works as prehab!

Barefoot and in socks. All the props are in the studio, no need to bring anything.

 

FLEXIBILITY

Flexibility training for dance.

 

FLOORWORK
Practice and technique. Based on flow of exercises.
What to wear: long sleeves and socks recommended.
Floorwork is used in very many dance forms, for example in salsa often seen as part of performances and fusions.
Floorwork is an important part of becoming a better mover and also a way to take care of your body. Floorwork includes many functional and developmental movement patterns and helps us rediscover movements that we might have lost.
You will discover movements from another perspective, use your feet in another way, and explore organic patterns such as spirals and transitions. We also work on mobility, relaxation in movement, movement efficiency and relationship to the floor.
Activate large muscle groups across the entire kinetic chain and build strength through full ranges of motion.
The class emphasizes smooth, biomechanically sound transitions between movements, creating a continuous sense of **flow**.

TURNS & SPINS TECHNIQUE

For salsa, but applicaple in a lot of dances.

Turns and spins solo practice for all levels.

Can be taken as weekly practice as well as drop in workshop.

Our general goal is to make turning effortless and enjoyable so that the turns will be a natural part of your dance.
In this class you will work on different techniques, placement, stability, balance, strength and ability to orient in space.

SALSA /MAMBO SHINES & STYLE SALSA ON2 SOLO

 

Leo leads this class with his extensive experience, authentic style and musicality.

Class is based on Leos choreographed combinations that are often spiced up by improvised parts inspired by music.

 

This class is recommended to anyone who already is dancing salsa.

The essence of the class is to have fun, to express ourselves, explore and develop our own style.  In this process mistakes are welcomed. If you don t remember all steps it is normal, with time you will recognize and will be able to remember more and more.


Advanced dancers will work on refining their own unique style, technique, musicality and add layers of improvised elements into the structure of the shines.

Shines practice will allow you to have tools to be present in your toolbox, both to improve your individual dance (“shines”) and your partnerwork ( for example through better footwork and awareness of timing) .
Music is played for most of the duration the class, with breaks to learn new combinations and to answer questions.

TANGO BARRE

Individual technique training by the barre, more focus on “adornos”.

Flow of short exercises and short choreographed combinations.

From class material we prepare choreography for show (as extra project, for those who want).

TANGO SOLO “FAST FEET”

Tango/milonga/vals: individual technique with more focus on precision, rhythm and velocity. Short combinations to music, you will be dancing and sweating

TANGO SOLO TECHNIQUE TRAINING

Systematic training of individual technique based on flow of exercises, a lot of repetition: in each class we follow the same structure with slightly different variations of short exercises (no choreography).

PACHANGA SOLO

Vi slipar på dansen genom grundläggande turer, med fokus på säker, trygg och snygg teknik som vi lätt kan bygga på med flöde, dynamik, musikalitet och så småningom egen stil. “Softness & precision” är ett genomgående tema på Foundations. Vi slipar på färdigheter och rättar till ovanor för bästa socialdans upplevelse med god teknik och känsla för dansen.


Nivå : god dansvana salsa on2
Vi utforskar möjligheter att fördjupa, utveckla och variera dansen genom olika teman relaterade till salsa on2 partnerwork. Teman kan vara t ex viss typ av turer, dynamik, pachanga i partnerwork, bodymovement, breaks, partnerbyte, shines, cha cha cha etc.

SALSA /MAMBO ARMWORK
(similar to “armstyle”)

Open level. Solo. 

We train techniques for arms through short exercises and drill them until movements feel natural and can be integrated to your own expression. Class can be taken as drop in or as weekly practice. We work on initiation of movements, coordination, dynamics, flow and to increase repertoire of arm movements.

SALSA/MAMBO  SOLO FUSION 

Level: “dansvana”/advanced.

In this class we work on short choreographies by Jojo that will change from class to class. Class is salsa on2 -based and incorporates elements from a variety of dance styles such as latinjazz, “afro”, elements of classical technique or contemporary moves. The idea is that work on the techniques is mainly done in the technique classes such as Body Movement, Turns technique etc, and in Fusion class there is chance to apply everything and dance out. We try to dance throughout the whole class, except for short pauses for explanations and corrections. This class also includes some elements of training for show/performance: towards the end we dance in two groups, try out some stage-elements, and at the very end we will film the dance (for those who want).
